When the late Alexander McQueen incorporated technology into the end of his Spring Summer show in 1999, the fashion world was held captive and inspired by the endless possibilities that technology could bring to fashion.
Fellow designer Hussein Chalayan followed suit in 2007, incorporating animatronic dresses into his show which changed the outfits as the models walked down the runway. He also went on to use lasers in his SS 2008 show:
A store in Japan recently introduced digital clothes hangers as a form of digital marketing. The hangers use a RFID chip that has the capability to interact with digital displays around the product and can be used to configure different images or even music. It also means shops can monitor how much interest a particular product receives from customers.
